Rokt Rewind with Marine Philipon

In honor of Rokt’s 10th anniversary this year, we’re taking a moment to reflect on all our milestones and accomplishments from the past decade. Rokt Rewind features the voices of Rokt’stars who have been part of the Rokt journey since the very beginning. Read on to hear their story and thoughts on Rokt’s past, present, and future.

Meet Marine

Marine joined Rokt in September 2016 as part of the Sydney office (she had her final interview with Bruce at 4AM while she was living in Malaysia!). She initially focused on email marketing, but soon started working with account managers to help with their nurture needs, which led to joining the Customer team and moving to New York. Marine became the Product Manager for several products over the years as the R&D organization has grown. Marine recently joined the Customer & Experimentation product team, working on a wide range of initiatives to advocate for the end customer and their experience with Rokt.

Reflecting on Rokt

What do you like most about working at Rokt?

My journey is a little atypical, as I’ve been in several departments, but the one constant is I never stop learning. Being at Rokt means solving so many complex and fascinating problems; that would not be possible without the people. I have also met so many incredible people at Rokt over the years – some are still here and I get to work with them everyday, and some have moved on to other opportunities but have given me lasting friendships.

What are some of the key changes you’ve seen since you started working at Rokt over 6 years ago?

When I joined, Rokt was 60 people, we’re now close to 400 – so a lot has changed. When I get asked where I work, I sometimes get people that actually know what Rokt is, which is not something I ever ran into 6 years ago! One day, someone stopped me in Central Park because I was wearing a Rokt shirt and they worked for one of our partners and loved it. One could say it’s a small world, but I’d say we are growing, making an impact, and getting noticed.

Another great change is the offices. We worked out of a much smaller office in North Sydney when I joined, now we have 2 floors in both our beautiful Sydney and New York offices and are expanding rapidly.

What’s your favorite memory from your time at Rokt?

At one of the smaller End of Quarter (EOQ) sessions in Sydney, we spent the afternoon playing soccer in giant inflatable bubbles. That was a lot of fun, everyone played and got competitive in a good way. I have great memories of the time when I knew everyone’s name. It’s a little harder now 🙂

What is your favorite Rokt tradition? (GKO, TGIF, Wellness Week, etc.)

Meet & eat lunches – does that count as a tradition? It’s a great opportunity to put the laptops down and catch-up with colleagues. Everyone is different, one day we catch up on personal life with closer friends, the other we have fascinating debates about an important problem Rokt is trying to solve for a client. There is no hierarchy here: you’ll see the C-level executives laughing with the interns for lunch. It really brings out the Rokt spirit and culture of collaboration and being “better together.”

What Rokt value do you most identify with?

Force for Good: care, inclusion, equality, making sure we invest in people’s growth. Being part of the Product team, I truly believe we have a positive impact on ecommerce and people’s experiences and, to me, it feels like that falls under this value.

What are you looking forward to in the next three to five years at Rokt?

I’m looking forward to seeing where we go and where we take our new frontier products and what a future IPO might look like. I also look forward to continuing the growth of the R&D teams in New York.
